Step 1 Palette 1
1.
Create new image with white background. Create new layer Layer>New>Layer, should be called Layer 1. Then create a circle selection using eliptical marquee tool. Fill this selection with any color. I have chosen orange (on the right side)

Step 2
2.
Then cut out top and bottom quarter from this circle. Do this using rectangular marquee tool.
Step 3
3.
Now go to Edit>Transform>Skew and skew this "box" like mine.

Step 4
4.
Hold Down Ctrl key and click with mouse on Layer 1. This should make a selection. Now display paths palette Window>Show Paths and on the bottom of this palette is icon like this Make Path From Selection. Click on it! Now you have the path. Transform this path until it looks similar to the picture on the left.
Step 5
5.
When you are done, create new layer Layer>New>Layer. Make this new layer active and fill path with same color you used for the first time. Now you can delete work path and layer with basic shape.
Step 6 Palete 2
5.
Now pick the Airbrush Tool from toolbar [J]. Set pressure about 10 - 15. Choose some darker color in the same hue (I have chosen that one on the left) and carefully create shadow on left and bottom side od the shape. Finally pick brighten color again in the same hue and with Airbrush make reflections on right and top side.

NOTE: It is important now, that you have checked Preserve Transparency checkbox , otherwise Airbrushing will corrupt the shape.

7.
Now you have complete cord. I know. I know. You might say: It doesn't look so well as I expected. Well you're right. Last Thing you have to do is copy active layer several times, move it up or down until you'll have your cord. Then just merge theese layers, add some final touches and we're done.
